Amcor and Berry Global merge to form packaging giant

Amcor has finalised its merger with Berry Global’s Consumer Packaging division, creating one of the world’s largest flexible packaging companies.

The newly combined organisation will operate under the Amcor name and is now positioned to strengthen its presence in key sectors such as personal care, home care, healthcare, and aerosol packaging.

Following the merger, Amcor now ranks among the leading global packaging suppliers, offering a wider product range that includes both flexible and rigid formats.

The company has stated that the integration is intended to support innovation and improve operational scale, particularly in markets with high demand for sustainable and high-performance packaging.

The enhanced product line now includes advanced barrier and laminated materials, widely used in aerosol and pressurised packaging.

These solutions aim to meet evolving requirements for both durability and environmental sustainability, particularly in personal care and household applications.

A key driver of the merger is a joint commitment to sustainability. Both companies bring expertise in developing recyclable and lightweight packaging, and the combined business is expected to accelerate the use of circular economy principles.

This includes expanding the use of recyclable and bio-based materials across its product lines, especially in sectors with strict environmental standards such as aerosols.

The merger also aims to increase supply chain efficiency and improve purchasing power, supporting faster development of eco-friendly packaging formats.

These capabilities are seen as critical in meeting growing global demand for sustainable packaging alternatives.

Senior executives from both Amcor and Berry Global have taken leadership roles in the unified company, overseeing the integration process.

According to Amcor’s CEO, Peter Konieczny, the merger “positions us to lead the transition to more sustainable packaging solutions globally, including the aerosol sector where performance and environmental demands continue to evolve.”

The newly combined Amcor will continue to trade on the New York Stock Exchange and is expected to play a significant role in driving innovation and growth in the international packaging industry.

The company has indicated that it will maintain a strong focus on customer service, research and development, and environmental responsibility as it advances its long-term strategy.
