Stocks Rise as Middle East Worries Show Signs of Abating

The stock market was holding steadily higher in the afternoon on Monday as Wall Street’s worries about conflict between Israel and Iran eased after the weekend.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 350 points, or 0.8%. The S&P 500 rose 0.9%. The Nasdaq Composite was up 1.5%.

The big three indexes opened higher but picked up steam shortly after a report from The Wall Street Journal that said Iran was looking to deescalate with Israel and resume talks with the White House regarding its nuclear programs.
