U.K. Stocks on Brink of Record High
Europe's flagship index was trading in the red on Tuesday, but U.K. stocks were bucked the trend to put the country's blue-chip gauge on the brink of an all-time high.
The Stoxx 600 slipped 0.1% in morning trading. Paris's CAC 40 was also down 0.1%, and Frankfurt's Dax tumbled 0.6% amid a selloff in German defense stocks.
London's FTSE 100 was the outlier, climbing 0.3% after soft labor market data kept the Bank of England on course for a summer rate cut.
