H.B. Fuller releases 2024 sustainability report

H.B. Fuller, an adhesive technologies company, has unveiled its 2024 sustainability report, detailing the company’s progress in developing products that support its customers' sustainability goals such as recyclable packaging and energy-efficient materials.

The report emphasises that around 60% of H.B. Fuller's new product development is centred on enhancing the sustainability of its customers' end products.

The company's efforts towards climate action are seen in its alignment with Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) standards and the expansion of solar energy use across five countries, including India, Colombia, and China.

The company's digital mentorship platform has also facilitated nearly 400 mentorship pairings.

In terms of community impact, H.B. Fuller employees volunteered more than 6,600 hours globally, and the H.B. Fuller Company Foundation donated over $1.3m to various organisations.

The report also highlights strong governance, with H.B. Fuller's board of directors comprising 88% independent directors and 50% female representation.

H.B. Fuller CEO and president Celeste Mastin said: “H.B. Fuller’s 2024 report reflects the deep integration of sustainability into every aspect of our business - from how we innovate and operate to how we support our people and communities”

H.B. Fuller's product innovations such as the Swiftmelt 1850 hot-melt adhesive demonstrate the company's commitment to sustainability, stated H.B. Fuller.

Swiftmelt 1850, a pressure-sensitive hot-melt adhesive, excels on paper mailers, envelopes, and corrugated boxes.

Its biobased composition aids in cutting down the reliance on fossil fuels and single-use plastics, as well as diminishing energy consumption. This ensures reliable adhesion and maintains the integrity of packages.

The company's global environmental stewardship efforts include energy efficiency improvements, greenhouse gas emissions and waste reduction, and water usage minimisation.

The company has upgraded its eco-efficiency in facilities such as the new manufacturing site in Cairo, Egypt, to reduce its environmental impact.
