Standard Chartered has named Yusuf Demiral as its global head of data, analytics and AI for wealth and retail banking (WRB).

This newly created position will see Yusuf head the bank’s WRB data, analytics and AI strategy across the entire client journey.

He will work closely with the marketing, digital sales, and client experience teams to support the overall strategy of the chief client office.

Yusuf will join Standard Chartered on 7 July 2025 and operate out of Hong Kong.

He will report to Samir Subberwal, global head, wealth solutions, deposits and mortgages, and chief client officer.

In a statement, Subberwal said: “I am delighted to welcome Yusuf to Standard Chartered. As we continue to deliver innovative, digital-first personalised experiences for our clients, Yusuf will play a critical role in strengthening the use of data, analytics and AI capabilities to enhance the client journey.

“His knowledge and deep expertise built over the years will be instrumental for us to continually drive innovation, helping to deepen our client relationships and advance our abilities to meet their evolving needs.”

Yusuf has more than 25 years of experience in the banking sector.

Most recently, he was the group head of data analytics and customer relationship management (CRM) for wealth and personal banking at HSBC.

In that position, he was tasked with driving data platforms, advanced analytics, and CRM capabilities for HSBC’s retail and wealth banking operations across various products, segments, and channels. He headed a global team of over 1,000 in more than 20 markets at the firm.

In April this year, Standard Chartered launched a sports-focused alternative fund, tailored for ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) and high-net-worth (HNW) clients within its Global Private Bank.

"Standard Chartered hires HSBC executive to lead data, analytics and AI" was originally created and published by Private Banker International, a GlobalData owned brand.
