S&P 500 Loses Steam but Ekes Out Gain at the Close
The stock market on Monday took another step in the S&P 500’s journey back toward its February highs during an otherwise quiet day on Wall Street.
The S&P 500 rose 0.1%. It’s now about 2.3% away from its Feb. 19 record close. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was flat. The Nasdaq Composite rose 0.3%. The major indexes lost some steam heading into the final minutes of trading.
Artificial intelligence stocks continued to roar back, with the iShares Semiconductor ETF rising 2.4%. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang discussed AI at a tech event in London earlier in the morning.
