Vinson & Elkins said it appointed partners Samuel Francis in New York and Reed Schuster in Austin to enhance its Investment Management Practice.

Mr. Francis and Mr. Schuster formerly served as partners at Kirkland & Ellis, and they bring together more than 25 years of experience in the formation, operation and compliance of private equity, energy, and infrastructure funds, the firm stated.

“Sam and Reed’s broad skillset and experience, as well as their collaborative approach to practicing law, make them a perfect fit for the firm,” said Jim Fox, Vinson & Elkins partner and Vice Chair.

The law firm also announced the return of Caitlin Lawrence to the firm’s Finance practice as a Houston-based partner. Ms. Lawrence returns from Baker Botts and she focuses on commercial and direct lending with significant experience in energy financing, the firm said.

“Her experience handling traditional and renewable energy and infrastructure transactions fits perfectly with our Finance practice and also complements our M&A work,” said Dave Wicklund, Vinson & Elkins partner and head of the Global Finance Practice.
