Energy Stocks Miss Out on Market Rally
Energy stocks were the exception amid Wednesday’s broad stock market rally.
The S&P 500 energy sector was down 1.7%. The next-worst performing sector was utilities, down 0.5%. Financials and consumer staples were down 0.1%. The rest of the major sectors were rising.
Valero Energy, Phillips 66, and Marathon Petroleum were all down about 3% or more with WTI Crude oil futures down 1.1%.
